Lee Valley Destination Plan : Advisory Services

Lake Inniscarra, Lee Valley Inniscarra Lake is one of Irelandís many beauty spots. It offers something for every one including a range of visitor attractions, fishing, outdoor pursuits, water sports, hotels, restaurants and spas. In 2007 the Lake became home to the National Rowing Centre for Ireland with the opening of a new, purpose built centre. What the area lacked was a coordinated Destination Plan and some key elements to bring the whole together.

GVA RGA were engaged to assist the owners with the development of a sheltered, fresh water marina as a focus point for the Lee Valley. Our clientís owned a brown field site beside the Lake and were looking to a more sustainable pattern of development for the future which would create a hub for various activities that take part on the Lake and provide a tourism base for year round activities.

The need for balance was essential; the peaceful nature of the environment, the more attractive the area, the more people want to go there, and of course the presence of people can have a detrimental effect on the very elements that draw them there. With this in mind GVA RGA were
engaged to assist the owners with the development of their site on the Lake. This involved a Scoping Report, to identify the key elements needed, a Destination Plan to describe how these elements should work together and finally a Feasibility Study for our clientís components of the Destination.
