Titanic Mill : Advisory Services

Titanic Mill is a Grade II listed building standing in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Purpose built as a textile mill, it was completed in 1911, the same year as the launch of the fated RMS Titanic. This, coupled with the building’s imposing stature as one of the largest woollen mills in the Huddersfield area, is why it became known locally as Titanic Mill.

Titanic Mill GVA RGA’s involvement with the project was in assisting the owners to optimize the leisure development at the Mill. Options included an hotel, spa suites and residential apartments, with the overall proviso that the project needed to work holistically.

The mill is owned by local developer, Lowry Renaissance, who took on the huge challenge of giving the Mill a new lease of life. The health club, bistro and the UK’s first Eco-Spa are already opened and new owners are settling into their homes. With an awareness of climate change the developers have created apartments that are all CO2 neutral, installed solar panels into the roof and incorporated a green generating plant to ensure that the energy consumed in the building will be supplied mainly from renewable sources.
