Titanic Quarter Belfast : Advisory Services

Titanic Quarter GVA RGAís involvement with the project started when Max Gaunt, GVA RGAís Director, was approached to give advice concerning the visitor attraction. This is to be housed in the Titanic Signature Project, a start-of-the-art building at the heart of the development, due for completion in 2012, in time for the RMS Titanicís centenary.

The Titanic Quarter in Belfast is the largest urban regeneration project in Europe. A 185 acre waterfront site is to be transformed into a mixed used maritime district called the Titanic Quarter; with 7,500 apartments, nearly a million sq m of business, education, office and R&D floorspace; hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, film studio and a visitor attraction. The development will act as a driver for high quality investment and development into the city. The £5 bn development is expected to create 25,000 jobs over the next 15 years.

The site is centred on the Harland & Wolff shipbuilding yards, and includes the twin slipways from where the Titanic and Olympic White Star passenger liners were launched. Ships have been built in the docks in Belfast since 1791, and the tourist offering reflects that history, with exhibits of industrial and maritime heritage; a welcome addition was the return in 2009 of the SS Nomadic, built here in 1910, she is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment.
